The Philippines: An Enthralling Expedition to the Stunning Isles in the East

An amazing journey full of surprises to the Philippine Islands, exploring pristine beaches, hiking trails, and abundant attractions in the most beautiful archipelago in the East. We will start our journey in the vibrant city of Manila, from which we will embark on a magical trip to the Taal Volcano, continuing with a day of off-road adventures between enchanting views of the Pinatubo Volcano. Here, special walking routes will be combined with footpaths as we proceed to the beautiful rice terraces in the Banaue region, where we will embark on captivating hiking trails among the various tribes that populate the picturesque villages and relax in the enchanting beaches of one of the most beautiful exotic islands in the Philippines.

 Our Suggested Itinerary - Explore a past Aujo Travel trip for your next adventure

Day 1 I Manila – Taal Lake

In the morning, after breakfast, we will explore Manila and its surroundings. After recovering from the arrival, we will head to the city of Tagaytay, located on a high ridge created by the eruption of a prehistoric volcano. From there, we will slide towards Taal Lake, located in the crater of a stunning prehistoric volcano. Upon reaching the lake, we will board local "banca" boats and sail to the island in the middle of the magnificent lake. With the "banca" anchored, we will ride horses and ascend the mountain to observe the volcano itself. After the adventurous experience, we will return to our hotel in Manila for an overnight stay and dinner.


Day 2 I Manila – Pagsanjan Falls

This morning, we will embark on a journey towards the neighboring province of Laguna, a two-and-a-half-hour drive until we reach the riverside boats of Pagsanjan. Along the way, we will witness wide rice fields, cross towns and villages until we arrive at the river's boat station. We will ride in pairs on small boats called "banca" while two local guides paddle the "bangka" boat carrying the kayak. If the river's water level is sufficient, we will continue the journey by boat to the stunning waterfalls. We won't miss a special walking route through the waterfall area, which may be a bit slippery, to view the falls from another angle, Talaibhib Falls, where we will enjoy flowing waters and a breathtaking view. After the stay at the falls, we will return in an adventurous canoe ride downstream on a local canoe. We will return in the evening to our hotel in Manila. After the experiential tour, we will travel back to Manila, stopping at an authentic local market on our way to explore the culinary aspect of the Philippine Islands. Overnight stay and dinner in Manila.


Day 3 I Manila – Banaue

This morning, we will transfer to the airport and take a flight to Cauayan Airport, located in the heart of the Cagayan Valley. From there, we will continue our journey to Banaue (a long journey of several hours) for our visit to one of the world's wonders: the rice terraces of Banaue. Upon arrival in the town, we will visit the small shops, meet the local residents, and be impressed by the village life already on our first day in these fascinating islands. (B,D)


Day 4 I Rice Terraces of Banaue - Sagada

This morning, after breakfast, we will meet with the local team and embark on a journey to the shoulder of the mountain to observe the impressive rice terraces: The Banaue Rice Terraces. From the breathtaking viewpoint, we will continue with a 1.5-hour hike through these rice terraces towards the surrounding villages. Along the way, we will encounter local residents, get to know their simple lifestyles, and continue on a beautiful walking route in the village area. We will explore the tiered rice terraces cultivated by local residents using a special system of streams and springs shaped like aqueducts. The streams converge into the water channel, an integral part of the ecological system allowing the locals to cultivate rice terraces in a high and complex mountainous area. Despite their primitive construction methods, these remarkable terraces provide a unique and extraordinary experience. After the beautiful walking trails, we will return to Banaue for accommodation. Day 5 I Banaue Rice Terraces – Batad Village

This morning, we will board a jeepney, a popular mode of public transportation in the Philippines, and set out to visit the rice terraces of Batad for fascinating and unique walking routes. The trek to the picturesque Batad village is a once-in-a-lifetime experience, allowing us to learn about the unique construction methods of the local residents. During the tour, we will visit Tappiya Falls located beyond the mountain, and those interested can relax and have coffee in the scenic area. After the village tour, we will stop for a light lunch at one of the local inns and enjoy the special tranquility that characterizes the area. In the afternoon, we will return to our jeepney and go back to accommodation in local houses. (B, L)


Day 6 I Nature Walk – Tappiyah Falls – Banaue

This morning, we will bid farewell to our warm hosts from the previous night and embark on a nature walk from the village to Tappiyah Falls, admiring breathtaking green landscapes along the way. After a short picnic stop near the falls, we will continue walking towards Banaue through the stunning rice terraces, dedicating time to observe the magnificent view of the Tappiyah Falls. We will then proceed with our journey to the hotel in Banaue for accommodation, experiencing the unique atmosphere once again. (B, L)


Day 7 I Banaue – Sagada

Today, a long journey awaits us as we head back to the capital, Manila. An approximately 8-hour drive will include stops at beautiful viewpoints, picturesque towns, and charming villages, where we will witness the local craftsmanship. In the evening, we will arrive in Sagada and prepare for the continuation of our special journey in the region. (B, L)


Day 8 I Off-Road Day in Mount Pinatubo

A fascinating, enjoyable, and unforgettable day is planned in the Mount Pinatubo region. In the morning, we will join off-road vehicles for a trip to one of the less-known yet beautiful areas in the Philippines: Mount Pinatubo. In 1991, the volcano erupted, initially posing a threat to the entire region. However, the eruption transformed the area into one of the most captivating and charming places. After off-road vehicle rides, we will embark on a beautiful 2-hour walking trail through valleys and rocky areas, crossing various points of rice terraces. We will observe fascinating geological phenomena and enjoy a refreshing and pleasant lunch by the riverside. After exploring the area, we will drive back to Manila for accommodation. (B, L)


Day 9 I Manila – City Tour

This morning, we will explore the fascinating capital city of the Philippines, situated on the western shore of Luzon, the largest and most populous island in the archipelago. With over 16 million residents, Manila is considered one of the largest cities globally. Our urban tour will include a visit to the renowned Rizal Park, the historic Intramuros district within ancient walls, a visit to the American Cemetery, and admiration of the breathtaking Santiago Fort. Throughout our urban tour, we will strive to experience both the ancient and impoverished aspects of Manila, as well as its modern and wealthier side. (B, L)


Day 10 I Manila – Palawan

This morning, we will visit one of the most beautiful and awe-inspiring places on our Filipino journey. After breakfast, we will catch a flight to El Nido, Palawan. Upon arrival, we will check into the hotel and embark on a special day tour in the area. Our first stop will be the famous Big Lagoon, beautifully colored with emerald waters. From there, we will continue to the Small Lagoon with its unique marble walls. After a refreshing experience, we will head to the Hidden Lagoon, accessible through a hole in the rocks. After the wet adventure, we will return to our unique hotel in Palawan. (B, L)


Day 11 I Helicopter Island - Palawan

This morning, we will explore another island, Helicopter Island, named for its shape resembling a helicopter. After visiting this long and white sandy beach, we will proceed to a hidden beach accessible through a hole in the rock. Following the watery experience, we will visit Talisay Beach and then return to our hotel for relaxation. In the evening, we will enjoy dinner accompanied by music, concluding a relaxing and pleasant day. (B, D)


Day 12 I Palawan – Sabang Beach

After breakfast, we will board a bus and drive towards Sabang Beach. Along the journey, we can expect stunning views and captivating sights, with stops for observations and explanations. At noon, we will reach a beautiful beach and settle into a special hotel offering a wide range of comfort facilities to make our organized trip feel like a luxurious and calming vacation. At the hotel, we can enjoy amenities such as a large swimming pool, spa room, fitness center, and more. Romantic souls among us can take a stroll in the surrounding area. (B, L)


Day 13 I Underground River of Puerto Princesa – Palawan

After breakfast, we will set out to explore the Puerto Princesa Subterranean River, considered the longest underground river in the world. This river, covered by a forest, serves as a habitat for numerous plant and animal species, making it scientifically significant. After the river journey, we will experience the exciting Ugong Rock Adventure, one of the highlights of the day. After a thrilling day, we will return to our hotel for a relaxing evening and dinner accompanied by music. (B, L, D)


Day 14 I Palawan – Manila

This morning, we will rise early, bid farewell to the white beaches, and head to the airport for our flight back to the capital, Manila.
