Days 1 | Dibrugarh (Assam) – Bihu

Upon arrival, we will embark on an introductory tour of the city, combined with a visit to one of the tea estates and tea fields that adorn the entire region. After the tour, we will settle in our hotel and enjoy a unique folk performance by the Bihu people, marking the beginning of the special journey in the less-known region of India.


Day 2 | Dibrugarh – Mon (Nagaland)

After breakfast, we will leave the city of Dibrugarh and the lodge where we stayed and embark on a 160 km journey towards the town of Mon, situated at an altitude of 897 meters above sea level, known in the area for the fascinating sculptures of its intriguing inhabitants. On our way to Mon, we will encounter the Konyak tribe for the first time, getting up close to their distinctive facial tattoos and witnessing their interesting handiwork, which combines unique carving and extraordinary craftsmanship. Overnight stay and dinner in basic pensions in the Mon region.


Day 3 | Mon – Longwa (Nagaland)

This morning, we will depart for the village of Longwa, located 57 km from the town of Mon. Longwa is one of the larger villages in the Mon district, precisely situated on the border between India and neighboring Myanmar. On our way to Longwa, we will stop to visit the Changnyu village, where we will examine the unique wooden sculptures created by the village residents – sculptures reaching heights of up to 4 meters, believed by the local belief to represent divine beings. Overnight stay and dinner in basic pensions in the Longwa region.


Day 4 | Mon – Sivasagar – Jorhat (Assam)

In the morning, we will embark on a long journey to the capital of the district, Jorhat. On our way to the capital, we will stop to visit the Shiva Dol temple in the fascinating town of Sivasagar, dating back to the 13th century, representing the rule of the Shan people in the region. This intriguing temple was brought to the area during the 13th century from Thailand and has built magnificent temples in the region. During our visit to Sivasagar, we will enjoy an abundance of archaeological remains, including forts, palaces, and workshops. We will also get acquainted with the oldest amphitheater in Asia. Overnight stay and dinner in the Jorhat region.


Day 5 | Jorhat - Majuli

After breakfast, we will travel to the Nimatighat port to embark on a river descent that will take us to Majuli Island, the largest inhabited river island in the world. This heart-shaped island on the Brahmaputra River is a UNESCO World Heritage Site, where we can enjoy fascinating human encounters and be impressed by the unique agricultural methods of the region. During our visit to Majuli Island, we will learn about the unique Vaishnavite monasteries and the special culture of the island's inhabitants. Overnight stay and dinner in the Majuli region.


Day 6 | Majuli - Mokokchung

This morning, we will leave the enchanting river island and head towards Mokokchung in the state of Nagaland. On our journey to Mokokchung, we will travel 110 km through beautiful villages and reach the Mokokchung region, the home of the Ao Naga tribe known in the region for their captivating dances and unique customs. Overnight stay and dinner in Mokokchung.


Day 7 - Mokotjo Ng

This morning, we will embark on a tour of the Nagaland state, starting our journey in the town of Ungma. Ungma is the ancestral town of the Ao and Lotha tribes, considered the second-largest town in Nagaland. Ungma is regarded as a living museum of the region, as the inhabitants zealously preserve their unique religious traditions, making the town a kind of vibrant cultural museum. We will then proceed to visit other picturesque tribes in the area, such as Chuchuyimlang, where we will learn about the distinctive lifestyles of the local tribes. Perhaps we will even participate in the gift exchange ceremony held during this season.


Day 8 - Mokokchung to Kohima (Nagaland)

This morning, we will embark on a several-hour journey to the town of Longleng, situated at an altitude of 1,846 meters above sea level. Here, we will witness the unique handiwork of the town's residents. According to local belief, the town is blessed with death-wielding winds, resembling the paradise they create. After understanding the town's definition as a paradise on earth, we will travel to the town of Chizami, the home of the Rengma tribe. These tribes are primarily agriculturists living in the hills and manage an extensive agricultural system. Their unique houses are constructed with bamboo and thatch. In the evening, we will reach Kohima, situated at an altitude of 1,444 meters, considered the capital of the Nagaland state and the gateway to the neighboring state of Assam.


Day 9 - Kohima

The entire day will be dedicated to exploring Kohima and its surroundings. We will start our day with a visit to the World War II museum, located at the site of the Battle of Tennis Court. We will hear the fascinating story of the battle and explore the cemetery containing 1,421 graves preserving the story of the battle. From the battle site, we will move on to the Nagaland State Museum, which narrates the captivating story of the minority communities living in the region and their way of life. To conclude our day, we will take a short trip to Khonoma, a fascinating town with a 7,000-year history, nestled in the high hills, whose inhabitants resisted British attempts of occupation. During the town tour, we will learn about the eco-tourism practices of the region and the unique and different Kohima Green Project.


Day 10 - Kohima to Kaziranga

This morning, we will continue exploring the region, hearing stories of World War II heroism and then travel to the UNESCO-listed conservation sites: Jakhama and Khonoma. In these towns, we will get acquainted with the Angami tribe, living in the picturesque hills. Each family within the tribe has a fascinating and unique life story. After the anthropological experience, we will continue to Kaziranga National Park, where we will spend the night.


Day 11 - Kaziranga Safari and Jeep Tour

This morning, we will experience an invisible safari in Kaziranga National Park, a paradise for nature enthusiasts. We will ride on elephants to observe the one-horned rhinoceros closely. Elephant riding allows tourists to get an extremely close view of the rhinoceros. After the riding tour, we will switch to off-road vehicles for a jeep tour across the sanctuary, hoping to witness a large variety of characteristic wildlife in the unique Savannah preserve.


Day 12 - Shillong

This morning, we will leave Kaziranga National Park and travel to Shillong for the next three nights. Shillong is located in the Meghalaya state, often referred to as the "Abode of Clouds," a mountainous strip situated between the Indian state of Nagaland and the state of Assam in India.


Day 13 - Cherrapunji - Shillong

We will embark on a special journey through the rainforests of Cherrapunji, situated at an altitude of 1,300 meters above sea level, home to the world's wettest rainforest. During the journey through the sanctuary, we will be amazed by the stunning landscapes and the unique vegetation of the area. Of course, we will take walking trails to witness the cascading Nohkalikai Falls, the ecological uniqueness of the large ecological project in the area, and the special elephants pouring down from one of the region's highest cliffs (if time permits). Towards the evening, we will return to our hotel in Shillong.


Day 14 - Shillong to Mawlynnong

This morning, we will leave the Kaziranga region and travel to the town of Mawlynnong, renowned as the cleanest village in India according to Discovery magazine. It is situated at the foothills of the high mountains that separate the region from Bangladesh. During our tour of the town, we will enjoy the breathtaking views, perhaps spotting unique birds and endemic flora to the area.

Day 15 - Shillong to Guwahati - Bagdogra - Gangtok

This morning, we will leave Shillong and travel to the Guwahati district, from where we will take a short flight to Badogara. Upon landing, we will proceed to Gangtok, the capital of the state. In Gangtok, we will spend the night.


Day 16 - Gangtok

We will spend the day exploring the capital city of Sikkim, Gangtok. We will begin our visit slightly outside Gangtok at the Rumtek Monastery, the most important monastery in Sikkim, the seat of the Karmapa sect, one of the Tibetan Buddhist schools. After the tour, we will return to Gangtok, the largest city in Sikkim with over 50,000 residents. The name Gangtok translates to "the hilltop," as the city is situated at an elevation of 1,675 meters above sea level. During the city tour, we will visit the National Tibetology Museum and the Institute of Cottage Industries, admire the flower exhibition above the city, and conclude our visit at the large local market. We will spend the night in Gangtok.


Day 17 - Gangtok to Pelling

This morning, we will head eastward in Sikkim on a mountainous route, enjoying panoramic views. We will stop at Ravangla for a tour of the newly built and beautiful Buddha Park. In Geyzing, we will visit the impressive Hindu temple dedicated to the god Shiva, known as Khecheopalri Lake. We will then travel through dense forests to the small and picturesque town of Pelling, where we will spend the next two nights.


Day 18 - Pelling and Surroundings

We will begin our morning with a tour of the Darap Village, one of the many villages nestled in the hills of Sikkim. We will continue to the Khecheopalri Lake, a sacred mountain lake revered by both Buddhists and Hindus. In the afternoon, we will return to Pelling and visit the Pemayangtse Monastery, the most important monastery in Sikkim. It was enlarged in the early 18th century and is located at an elevation of 2,150 meters. We will conclude the day with a beautiful walk through the forest on our way to the Rabdentse Fort, the former capital of Sikkim. We will spend the night in Pelling.


Day 19 I Pelling to Bagdogra - New Delhi

This morning, we will travel to the city of Bagodara, from where we will fly to New Delhi, the capital of India. Upon arrival, we will settle into a hotel in the city center for our final tour in India.


Day 20 I Delhi 

This morning, we will transfer to the airport for a return flight.
