Tanzania: Safari and Adventures in Tanzanian Reserves and Zanzibar
Herds of elephants descend to the local river to drink water at sunrise. Vultures and eagles circle above their prey, waiting for the right moment to claim their share after the lions have satisfied their hunger. The hippopotamus pool is rich with animals approaching the weight of almost a ton, basking under the scorching sun. The leopard leads its prey to the top of the tree, where it dines peacefully, far from any competition. These are just some of the sights of a safari in Tanzania, leaving even those who thought they had seen it all utterly captivated. A safari journey to Tanzania is an extraordinary encounter with the wildlife of Africa in the vast and richest savannah territories in the world. An experience that can awaken even the greatest skeptics. Especially, as the journey concludes with an unforgettable vacation on the pristine and white sands of Zanzibar.

Land in the Kilimanjaro International Airport located in the northern part of Tanzania. Welcome to Africa! Upon landing, meet the local team that will accompany us throughout the safari in the most beautiful reserves in the Dark Continent. We will equip ourselves and head east towards the city of Arusha. In Arusha, we'll take a short lunch break and continue our journey to the picturesque town where we will visit the local market, admire the creations, and buy local souvenirs. Afterward, we'll head to Lake Manyara Nature Reserve, where we'll spend the night in a lodge overlooking the forest and the salty lake beneath. Towards sunset, we'll settle in the lodge in the Lake Manyara area. Lodging and dinner in the Lake Manyara area.
Day 2 | To the Hunter and Gatherer Tribes - Encounters with the Hadzabe and Datoga tribes in the Lake Eyasi Area
This morning, we'll embark on an unforgettable anthropological experience, meeting the hunter and gatherer tribes of the Hadzabe. This tribe lives in the Lake Eyasi area, maintaining a lifestyle reminiscent of early human life. The males of the tribe move with the herds of cattle throughout the year, engaging in hunting with the approval of the authorities and collecting from nature whatever it has to offer. We will get to know the Hadzabe and their way of life. From here, we will also get to know the Datoga people, nomadic tribes where women are known to tattoo their faces and live together with the other women of the chief in one hut. After the anthropological experience, we will return to the Lake Manyara area. Lodging in the Lake Manyara area.
Days 3-4 | Lake Manyara - Serengeti
This morning we will leave the Lake Manyara area and enter the famous nature reserve: Serengeti. During the days of the tour in the Serengeti Reserve, we will go on "Game Drives" - safari trips in the vast spaces of this fascinating reserve where we will see the fascinating wildlife of this captivating reserve. If we are lucky, we will see herds of elephants coming out with the first light to wash in one of the rivers in the savannah. We might also see the hippos flipping on their backs to dry their oily skin. We will continue to observe and maybe even see a giant herd of wildebeests crossing the vast plains of the savannah in a dramatic procession or lions lying in the sun, waiting for the fitness hour to catch the next prey. It is unclear what we will see, and that is the beauty of the safari, but in any case, an unforgettable and primal experience is expected.
Day 5 | Serengeti Reserve – Olduvai Gorge – Masaai Village – Ngorongoro Crater
This morning we will wake up early and go on the last safari round in the amazing nature reserve of Serengeti, bidding farewell to the wonderful wildlife that was our heritage in recent days and heading out of the reserve. An eastward journey will take us to Olduvai Gorge, where we will learn about the great research that has been conducted here for years and the remains of ancient man discovered in the region. We will visit the local museum and also get to know the unique wildlife in the region and the nomadic migration in ancient times. After the visit to the gorge, we will continue to the Masaai village, where we will get to know the life of the tribe that lives here until this day in huts made of clay and dung and manage a semi-nomadic lifestyle right next to the many wild animals we have met in the days of the tour in the Serengeti. In the afternoon we will settle in the lodge located on the edge of the magnificent Ngorongoro Crater, which we will explore tomorrow.
Day 6 | Ngorongoro Crater - Zanzibar
This morning, with the first light, we will descend to the great crater: Ngorongoro Crater was created as a result of the collapse of the Ngorongoro Volcano, which created a caldera containing a relatively small geographical area with all the wildlife of East Africa: giraffes, zebras, lions, wildebeests, and more in real proximity to our safari vehicle. (It is possible that this tour will take place on the 5th day of the trip). From here, we will transfer to Kilimanjaro Airport, and with the landing in Zanzibar, we will embark on a tour of the unique Stone Town and the spice farms that characterize Zanzibar - the famous spice island. We will stay in a nice hotel that will host us during our stay in Zanzibar.
Day 7 | Zanzibar - Dolphin Safari in the Indian Ocean
We will start the day with a safari tour in the Indian Ocean, searching for dolphin pods and perhaps whales off the coast of South Zanzibar in Kizimkazi, with the option to swim alongside them with a mask and snorkel. We will continue the safari with a walk through a special forest with unique, giant trees and Andean colobus monkeys to the Red Colobus monkey habitat, which will be a short distance from the mangrove forest we visited during the days of the tour in the Serengeti Reserve. Afternoon rest in the charming mangrove forest and lunch on one of the most beautiful beaches in Zanzibar, Paje Beach.
Day 8 | Zanzibar - Adventure on Zanzibar Island - Boating and Snorkeling in the Turquoise Shores of Zanzibar
Departure for a boat trip from the local Dau harbor to a hidden island, arrival by boat to the amazing island with the ocean's shades of blue, turquoise, and navy, snorkeling with a mask and snorkel, afternoon of fish and various sea life, and a boat trip between islands on the way back to the beaches of Zanzibar for relaxation and a beach vacation.
